Setting up my Bubbles!

Hey there community!

I just wanted to know if I needed to get an airstone setup or bubble wand that goes the whole length of my tank, and should it be towards the back or middle or front? I have a 36" long 40-gallon tank btw.

What about this set up...

12" airstone....5" circle airstone....12" airstone

Would that look lame or what?

you dont need a bubble wand or airstone, but a lot of fish really enjoy them and they're helpful if you need to raise the temperature to treat for ICH (warmer water = less oxygen). i dont think that the three airstones would look lame, lol. personally i prefer bubble wands. at least with the air stones that i have had, they've gotten clogged and don't like to stay down like they should. i prefer bubble wands with suction cups that attach to the back of the tank

Extra aeration doesn't hurt, especially when cycling. It also depends on what type of fish you'll have, if they like that much movement.

You can place it where ever you think it would look best. Same with the size, it's your preference.

Well I am planning on Zebra Danios and otto cats in there as well as a bgk.

I know the BGK wouldn't like that much movement right?

i wouldnt get a BGK (i assume you mean black ghost knife fish) for a 40 gallon tank, they really need much larger than that, closer to 120 gallons.

I don't know enough about them to comment on the bubbles, sorry.
Perhaps another member would be able to answer that.
Pretty cool fish though.

PFP can probably answer this best, but I'd say maybe just a small one, they're so little I'd go with less current rather than more

LOL I think the dwarf puffers would get a wicked ride from those bubbles =p

my DPs stay away from the bubbles in their tank, they stay close to the grass like plants and strong leafed plants, but PFP would be the best person to answer that Q (seperate thread to get her attention would be best)
