can i crimp an air line to lessen the bubbles?

i set up a huge glass vase to keep a snail world well not huge but quite large for a vase anyway i put an airstone in the bottom for aeration but the bubbles at the top of the water are splashing out onto the table i could lower the water level but i like it where it is and if i fold the airline and zip-tie it in place it lessens the bubbles to the perfect amount then i wondered will it burn up the air pump working against the resistance of the crimped line? anyone have any previous experience, good or bad? thanks Lee

Hmm, I don't know. They make little valves that let you adjust the flow of air through the tubing, I have several. I would guess that if those are ok, then crimping the line would be ok, too. But, just because they make valves to adjust air flow doen't mean those valves are safe for the pump, lol.

Sorry I didn't have a clear answer!

Re: can i crimp an air line to lessen the bubbles?

well thanks for the help anyway your answer does help me since i have not heard of a regulator like that before knowing that it exist means that my initial idea of crimping the line will mean that it just takes less air in instead of letting pressure build and seep around the seal in the pump which would burn it up thanks Lee

i've done that with no problems (that i noticed anyway). the hard part was getting the crimp to stay the amount i wanted it to stay :P

Gang valves cost maybe 2-3$ for what you would need

you might want to go with a gang valve for a longer time application. i was only going to have it set up like that for a while and didn't feel like getting tempted by the stuff at the pet store :P
