Mbuna Spawning

My mbuna are spawing...once one started, it seemed to get them all in the mood. Sand is flying everywhere, dens are being rented and life seems good! Now for my question(s)
Since these are hybrids, is it o.k to keep the babies for myself as long as they are not going in anyone else's tank? (ethically speaking)

Will I be able to tell by the mouths if they are carrying?

How long before Mom releases?

Will they consume their own babies?

I know Angela is baby busy right now, so anyone who has some answers feel free....first time with Mbuna's...it is so exciting!

Congrads!!. That is exciting. Sounds like your going to have a ton of babies soon. The mom will hold them and you should be able to tell. She'll refuse food and won't be as active.
Here is a site with a ton of info

first good luck with the fry.
weather or not you keep them is up to you I would not sell them or give them away though.

you will be able to tell if they are holding by the mouth or just under it will be pushed out

they should spit the fry around 21 days if they hold much longer than that you may have to strip them

they will eat their own fry some may survive
