Agressive Male!!!

Almost 2 weeks ago I purchased 2 kribensis Cichlids. When I first got them they hadn't paired yet so the male would sometimes pick on the female. This stopped after about 2 days and they began to become inseparable. A couple a days ago I noticed that my once inseparable fish where separate, with the male being on one side of the tank and the female being on the other. I turned on the lights and watched them for a few minutes. After about a minute my female began swimming back over to the side that my male was on but as soon as she got there he aggressively caused her around the tanks. At first I though this would be a one time occurrence but its becoming more frequent. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to fix this problem.

This is a cichlid and cichlids are known as fish that can take care of themselves and their territory. They are not recommended for community tank setups and will even fight amongst themselves around breeding time. Maybe it's getting close to breeding time

That is very typical for Kribs, Even the westies have the nasty attitudes. They are supose to pair up to breed, but the male gets very much more aggressive during breeding time.
I have heard about a type of congo cichlid that killed out everything in the tank. It was a species that could be kept in a "community" setting.

I have some krib cousins, pelv tainetus (nigerian reds) and they are meanies, I am waiting to see 2 of my 6 pair and then selling 4 of them. Right now I have one dom male that is de a keeper, the brightest most aggressive, the better.

I'm feeling less worried about it now that I know its a normal thing to happen. My female's belly has been getting more and more red everyday so it would make sense for it to be breeding season. Thanks for the help
