Well Just for pure curiosity I just thought about how to sex Pseudo's Acei's I have 8 of them and don't know how to sex them. I just read that if the top fin is more blue than yellow is a male and if it is pure yellow is a female. Help please

im no expert and im still learning...(gosh these africans are sooooooooooooo much work LOL) but from what ive read about them, they are monomorphic which means males and fems can look alike ...ive also read that africans can take on the color of the opposite sex ...have you heard of that? also venting is another way to sex them...this is a great site a buddy sent me..see if it might help at all http://www.malawimayhem.com/articles_venting.shtml

Thanks Shawnie. Yeap is a pain in the rear trying to sex them to see u got the right combo. I got 8 of this Acei's about a month and a half ago from a fish farm that sells on aquabit and the biggest one was about 1" to 1 1/4" and now the smallest one is about 2" so they are growing fast. Thanks.

Most of the female acei's I have seen are a deeper/darker purple and the male is a more pale purple...

Thanks Angela. It just pop on my head that Your name is Angela and mine is Angel haha. Yeap I notice some color differences but is kinda hard to tell my light right now suck. I order some Sun-glo at DFS and they shine kinda yellowish so gonna send them back for some Power-glo ones. I tried the Venting method and is hard unless you have a big fish or pretty good eyes or a mag-glass. Oh well I wanna have the right combo but is hard to tell.
