So i've had my cichlid tank for about a month now. 4 johanni, 2 auratus, 2 electric yellows. About a week ago one of the johanni cichlids picked out a space in the rock structure and has stuck to it since then. Just tonight when i went to feed them i noticed that one cichlid wouldn't eat. I was checking it out when i realized it had a big bulge under it's mouth. once again i gave them a little more food and it wouldn't eat. I think it might be breeding! Does it sound like it? How can you tell if the johanni is a female. When i first got them they were all the same intense blue, two of them have faded to a slight tint of blue. The one i thing that is breeding is one of the pale ones. Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: I'm almost 100% sure she is! her mouth is about twice the size and she does this weird thing where she looks like she's about to explode, like if a human inflated their cheeks and let it out over and over again really quickly.

It sounds like she is holding def Just watch her and make sure she does fine in the community tank, she may need to be moved into a brooding tank.

yeah, that's the only problem i think i'm gonna have to leave it up to her to proect herself. my only other tank is my new 75 gal saltwater. she seems to be doing fine in there though. I really hope everything goes well, i've been waiting for this!
