I finally have my complete collection of malawis that I wanted!!!!

In my 55g tank: Kenyi pair, 2 Yellow Lab pairs, a bumble bee, cheif (which we have yet to id him, a troph lilac, and a lep pleco

In my 36g 1 Hongi Proven pair (2 of the other females are in a 5g they had some fin damage from travel and I am treating them w/ melafix), a ruben pair, a flametail pair, and a pleco

In my 58g a group of PS sp Polits, a group of Cynatilapia afra hai reefs, met zebra red female, cobalt blue female (both going to new homes), 2 albino bushynose plecos

In my 10g tank a group of 1inch ps sp flavus fry soon going to the 55g tank when I get rid of the bumblebee cichlid.

In the 20g tank, my kenyi and lab fry (most are sold)

My once empty 5g is being used as a Q tank for the hongi I got yesterday treating them w/ melafix.

Thanks, when i finally get my new comp I will post them I bought a new one of comp usa's website, got it and it was broken, so they are having to replace it... so when I get the replacement I will post some pics... I erased all my camera programs off my fil's computer.

I cannot get over the Hongi males coloration, by far he is my favorite fish! I did say that about my polit but OMG! even after shipping and first pulling him out of the box he was bright and colorful, then after about 12 hours in the tank. Not to mention the redness in him caused my ruben red peacock to brighten himself up lol.

You need to get more females for your males. Malawi cichlids aren't pairing fish. 1 male to 3 females or more depending on the species. Hope you can find them.

The kenyi started breeding w/o being a two female to one male ratio so I let it be, I do plan to one day find another female for the male.
And w/ the yellow labs, I honestly thought I had three females to one male and that was an uh oh 2 males and 2 females...and I had 2 females holding at the same time and 2 males... surprisingly even w/ the 2 males in the same tank at adult size they get along.

Malawis are masters of disguises that's for sure. I was sold 5 Steveni peacocks 1 male to 4 females....well it ended up being 2 females and the rest males...what a mess. Fighting all the time. The sub dominant males stayed female coloring to keep safe. My dominant male was a meanie.

That makes me want to take my polits out and sep them for a couple days in individual tanks to see who is what sex, the dom male is def a meanie!! I know I have 3 males in the group of 8 at least and need to get rid of at least 2 of them, the dom male is def staying... but I want to make sure that there is only 3 males.

The same w/ the cynatilapia afras, their coloring is just the same... the only groups that I bought out of the malawis lately that I am sure about is the hongi and its only because they were of breeding age and had already been bred by the seller.

It's worth a try...especially since Polits are aggressive anyway.
