Hey everyone, i have got a 38 Gallon tank and am going to stock it with one species of lake malawi cihlids, but i dont know which species so ive narrowed it down to the 2 i like.
I would like to keep either:
3 yellow labs (1 male,2 female)
or
3 golden malawi cichlids (1 male,2 female)

Which species would be best for a beginner?

The labs are peaceful cichlids, you want to put more than 3 in a tank that size (more like 8) when you overstock the cichlids they do better aggressive level wise.

Did you know the golden malawi's are hybrids?

ive set up the tank now, you can see it in another of my threads, no i didnt, whats a hybrid species ?

it means they have mixed two or more malawi fish to make that species in that fish's case. The OB peacock is another created/hybrid species.
They are sometimes very unpredictable w/ their attitudes and can be extremmly aggressve or extremly friendly fish.

you were talking about a golden peacock from malawi right?

I would keep yellow labs. They are so cute. about 8 of them hopefully you can have more females than males..1:3 ratio is good for labs.
