Anybody know what kind these are?

I think I was able to find the first 2 but definitely not sure on the 3rd one.

Red Fin Borleyi (Kadango)

Yellow Lab, Electric Yellow

Female Red Fin Borleyi (Kadango)

I was just curious. I bought them with a tank and was only told they were African Cichlids.

Thanks in advance. If you need any more pictures, let me know.

capekate- I don't think so...only because I did a quick google search (I know, so accurate) but mine is a lot darker (deep blue/purple) with a an orange/red body. Also has a similar white mark along the top fin.

Trpimp147- I don't think so (assuming you mean babies?). BUT! it could explain why (maybe) when it was split up from the first one, it was going crazy? It would swim up and down the side closest to the new tank the first(picture) was put in and didn't calm down until moving it over to the other tank. Also, it hides a lot. First time I actually seen it swimming around was last night without the kids around. Do they still go after food(flakes) if it is holding?

BAD NEWS! Got a call from my wife...on of the Yellow Tails committed suicide or was murdered. We had a 5Gal tank next to the stand that he was found in...

As far as holding goes... I couldn't tell. Every time I tried they would turn away or mouth wasn't open enough.

The top one is a Male Red fin borleyi the bottom is/was a female and the other is a yellow lab...who isn't holding.

Thanks Allie! Question for you now. I'm thinking it is because it is the "Big Fish" and the other fish are a little more aggressive. But the Red Fin seems to be a bit more aggressive and chases the other fish around. Is that just "play" or could there be another reason. Also, it seems the Red Fin "protects" the lab. It only chases the Yellow tails around.

It chase the yellow tailed one around b/c it's his female. Yes usually the biggest fish in the tank becomes the dominant one.
What size is your tank? Red Fins get pretty big. I'd get a few more yellow labs. It's best to have at least 4 (1 male &the rest female) of each species to keep down the aggression. Red Fin are mildly aggressive so they don't get mean.

Allie- thanks again. There used to be 4 yellow tails. Not sure m/f though. It's a 46Gal bow front if that matters. They don't appear to be nipping at each other, just chasing each other around a little bit.

Trpimp- thanks also. I wouldn't have even though of that, but if I did. I would have planned for the worst since they would have been moved a few times while in the mouth.

What other food, other then flakes do these fish like(not as a treat). The Red Fin doesn't appear to like or even eat the flakes.

Mine love everything. Try getting a mix of spirulina flakes and a meat kind...mine don't like the regular cichlid flakes unless I order them from Kensfish.com. Try cichlid pellets, stick or bits.

Thanks Allie. I will have to take a look at my LFS's. Don't need any more fish dying. Especially caused by me.
