Welcome Stitch!

A friend of ours is moving up to Northern Cal and isn't able to keep her cichlid. I was going to give him to a friend of mine but alas, Hubby & I really like and want to keep him for ourselves, and I think we're going to. We've named him Stitch because he has, what look like, seams on his sides. Its too funny! He's got a great personality and jumps for his food. He's quite a lively fella. I took some pics of him, in his new tank, on his first day home. He seems to like it.

That is an Albino Oscar which can get over 10"+ when full grown. They are very dirty fish and need a large tank to thrive in. A 10g is too small for any type of cichlid. It is a South American cichlid not an african.

Oh, sigh... Gotta love the mistake on my friend's part. She had him in a 30 gal with a Placostomus and her tank WAS very dirty. She was also feeding him goldfish flakes. He seems ok, for today, in his 10 gal. He's only ~3 1/2 in. right now. Hubby & I were thinking of getting a 50 gal tank for him... Will this be big enough? His water is *sparkling* right now, and I plan on keeping it that way, even if water changes are a little more frequent than I'd like. He's got such an amazing personality! Never imagined we'd get attached to the 'little' guy.

He hasn't eaten anything since we brought him home. Is this normal? Is he stressed out? Can I do anything for him? Thank you for your advice.
