They are beautiful fish! I had them before but couldnt cope with their aggression.

Yup had I too gave them all up b/c of their aggression...they were just starting to mature when I sold them all. I was forever getting stressed out b/c one of my fish were injured...1 of my polits was murdered.

Yeh and it was heart braking because they such lovely fish look and personality wise! And they took a good price too for the medium sized ones which i had! Ah well....

I would like to do a species only african tank someday...just a colony of one type of fish. The trouble is which species? I loved them all except the peacocks.

Me too...still don't miss them. Except the Placidochromis Electra pair I had...they stayed out of the fights and were very peaceful. So pretty too,

Wow, those are superb! I want a cichlid tank now The blue ones are amazing. I can't decide on a high-pH cichlid tank like this, or an Amazonian one with dwarf cichlids and angelfish, now

I'd go with the amazonian theme...wait a minute I did. Africans are very stressful once they get mature...and it's hard to learn what species go better together & ones that don't. Trial & error with africans...more error. I actually stopped sitting in front of the tank.

And every time i sat to watch the fish it was with apprehension. I'm not saying they are bad, no they are VERY interesting, get to know you and are beautiful but it takes a looong time to get everything in order.
